Enjoy a full day of adventure and relaxation. Start with an exciting packraft tour through the rapids of the Colorado River, continue with a hike to the stunning La Leona Waterfall, crossing rock tunnels and turquoise waters, and end the day in the rejuvenating hot springs of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. Includes a delicious traditional lunch and volcanic mud treatments. An all-encompassing experience you won't want to miss!
If you're looking to make the most of your day, this tour is perfect for you, your friends, or family. The morning begins with a descent in your own packraft through the Class I and II rapids of the Colorado River. Our certified guides will instruct and teach you everything you need to know about maneuvering the boat. Don’t worry, it’s very simple, and you’ll only need a few minutes to learn how to use it. After just over an hour of navigating the rapids, you’ll be ready to start a hike along the banks of the Río Blanco, which will take us to the magical La Leona Waterfall. Here, we will cross the warm turquoise waters of the river, passing through basalt rock tunnels created by lava flows.
After walking for about 25 minutes, prepare to see two beautiful waterfalls in a lava-shaped canyon. Once the hike is finished, it’s time for lunch at a delicious Costa Rican restaurant. Afterward, you can enjoy the healing, rejuvenating, and therapeutic thermal mineral waters that originate from the depths of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. Don’t miss out on a rejuvenating treatment using volcanic mud, which serves as a spa-like body mask. Once the mud dries, you can wash it off in the cool river waters.
The tour starts at the main bridge over the Colorado River with 2 kilometers of packrafting, where you will run Class I and II rapids. This is the perfect setting to observe petroglyphs made by the local indigenous tribe, various species of monkeys, birds, and much flora. After completing the packrafting, we will continue with the second activity, a hike of approximately 2 hours along the Río Blanco canyon, leading you to discover simply magical places and be captivated by the beauty of La Leona Waterfall. On the way back to the base, we will change clothes and head to the slopes of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, where we will enjoy a delicious (buffet) lunch before relaxing in the healing thermal mineral waters.
